The Irish soccer team ended their 2017 campaign on Tuesday night to the 2016 Class 3 finalist. The Irish had beaten the Cubs 3-0 in a matchup earlier in the season, but unfortunately could not repeat the task on this cold and windy Tuesday.
The first half of the game was a defensive struggle yielding only 7 total shots before Monett's Jason Puentez broke through at 30:17 with the game's first and only goal. The pressure was increased in the second period but the Irish could not convert and the game ended at 0-1.
The Irish enjoyed an improved campaign and will miss their five graduating Seniors: Andrew DeVoss, Michael Zolfaghari, Andrew Olson, Kaueh Huttenlocher and Zach Straus
