Lady Irish golfers cap historic week with MSU Relay title

The lady Irish golfers capped off a historic week at the annual Missouri State Relays today at Bill and Payne Stewart golf club. The girls were playing very well, coming off an all time low team total on Monday at the Pearson golf tournament (314). The 314 was the SCHS school record and the 2nd lowest team total for a par 70 in MSHSAA history. That tournament saw an individual best round or 64 (-6) from freshman Reagan Zibilski along with solid rounds of 77 for Kayla Pfitzner and 79 for sister and teammate Kyleigh Pfitzner. On top of that, senior Ellen Moore had her personal best round to give the Lady Irish a 31-stroke win over the 14 team field.

Today the team would face 12 other area schools on the par 71 Bill and Payne Stewart results are as follows:

71 Kayla Pfitzner (Personal Best)
72 Reagan Zibilski
76 Kyleigh Pfitzner
94 Ellen Moore
100 Brooke Newhouse

The 313 total today not only best the field by 31 strokes but set a MSHSAA all-time low team score for a par 71 course. Needless to say, this was also the 2nd time in the same week the team had set their own school team record. The previous MSHAA team record for a par 71 was 319.

The lady Irish seem poised for their inaugural Big 8 conference tournament on Monday at Whispering Hills Golf Course in Marshfield. District play will begin on Monday, October 1st.
