Lady Irish Soccer Finish Top Four at State

The Springfield Catholic Lady Irish Soccer team advanced to the MSHSAA State Final Four for the 12th time in the 28 year history of the program.  The last Final Four appearance was in 2017 when now head coach Mackenzie Serrano was a player on that team.  After 3 consecutive quarter final appearances in Class 3, the Lady Irish finally broke through with a 3-0 victory against Southern Boone in the Class 2 quarterfinal this year.

The Lady Irish faced Pleasant Hill in the semifinals hosted at World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton, MO on Friday June 5th. 2026. Sophomore Claire Majorahn scored within the first minute on a quick breakaway. Pleasant Hill came back to tie the game and push it into overtime. The Irish held on for 13:15 of the 15 minute golden goal period but one finally snuck through during a barrage of attacks from Pleasant Hill for a 1-2 final loss. Pleasant Hill went on to win the Class 2 MSHSAA State Championship with a definitive 5-0 win over Clayton.

The consolation game was held Saturday, June 6th against a highly motivated St. Vincent team that had lost 1-2 to Clayton in the semifinals.  This time, St. Vincent got the quick goal in the first minute setting the tone for the majority of the match. The Irish were down 1-5 after a nearly unstoppable scoring attack from St. Vincent senior Lana Adams.  Adams is a University of Missouri soccer commit. She set a new MSHSAA final four record with 5 goals in the first half in this game. Catholic came alive in the second half and pushed the score to 4-7 for the final.

Four Springfield Catholic players earned All-State Honors. Junior Izzy Hoerschgen was named Class 2 Defensive Player of the Year. Teammates Claire Majorahn and Mya Marte earned first team honors and sophomore Crosby Morgan second team.
