Lady Irish sweep inaugural Big 8 championship

AURORA, MO--The inaugural Big 8 championship took place on a cold and windy day September 26 in Aurora, Missouri. The format was that all players 1-6 play a mini tournament with every other school's 1-6 players. All Irish girls won their individual flight. Erin Jarvis, was named Big 8 conference player of the year.

Next the girls had to play doubles and again the Lady Irish were victorious. They won 1, 2, and 3 doubles. Ashley Andrews and Claire Griesemer won number 1 doubles and were named doubles team of the year for the Big 8 conference.

In total the girls played 36 matches and were 36-0 for the day. Regular season play will conclude this week and districts will start at the beginning of October.
