POINT LOOKOUT, MO -- The SCHS Varsity volleyball team won the Patriot Invitational tournament on Saturday. Along with the championship, Coach Stephanie Bates earned her 600th career victory!

The Lady Irish started the day defeating Bergman in straight sets which gave Coach Bates her 600th win early in the tournament. The team played hard and finished first in pool play without losing a set (6-0). This impressive record put the Irish at the top of the bracket.

The Lady Irish beat Chadwick in the quarterfinals 25-10, 25-22. The semi-finals resulted in a hard fought three set victory over Spokane 21-25, 25-16, 25-19. This advanced the Irish into the championship match against Hollister. Both teams played with a lot of heart, but the Lady Irish came out on top winning in straight sets 26-24, 25-22.

This was the first tournament of the year for the Irish, and it was a very impressive showing with losing only one set all day. The Lady Irish have won the championship 6 out of the last 7 years. Congratulations to the volleyball team as well as Coach Bates on an incredible day!
